Each year, the Master Builders and Asset Construction Hire Excellence Awards begin in Canberra to commend and showcase outstanding projects across residential, civil, and commercial sectors. These awards are also used to recognise professionals, project managers, and other outstanding individuals who have made a positive impact on the construction industry in the ACT.

We entered the Custom Built/Project Home up to $500,000 category of the Master Builders and Asset Construction Hire Excellence Awards 2023 with our knockdown rebuild project at 33 MacLaurin Crescent, Chifley.
As part of the submission, the judging criteria included quality of workmanship, use of building materials, innovation, complexity and delivery of design, client satisfaction, and other factors.
Our submission was a standout within the category with our focus on and achievement of sustainable measures. Notable areas included upgrading the acoustic barrier on the external façade of the home and the implementation of a Water Sensitive Urban Design Plan allowing for rainwater to be captured and recycled within the house. We are also big on recycling materials from the demolition phase including roof timbers that were then recycled into a barn door in the entryway. This all-electric home achieved a 7-star energy rating through the combination of careful design, selective building materials, and high-quality workmanship.
The competition was tough, but we were tougher. We were in the running to win the award against some great builders in Canberra. Taking out the top spot in the category, we were awarded the winning entry for the Custom Built/Project Home up to $500,000! All homes that were entered into the Master Builders Excellence Awards were worthy of winning, and we are so proud to be recognised for our efforts amongst other fantastic construction companies in Canberra.
We achieved excellence in our category with a primary focus on sustainability and energy efficiency not only with the electrical fixtures but also within the building materials as well. We were able to use Hebel panels instead of the more commonly found brick base and timber cladding. These panels were then able to retain the intended cladded look by cutting ‘V’ joints into the panels for the finished look.
